In Zagora the programme is quieter: a camel ride through the palm grove and small dunes, a walk in the old ksour of the Draa Valley and, if you go further, the remote dunes of Erg Chigaga.

The Merzouga road follows the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs” through the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorges, with dramatic canyons and rose-growing villages. The Zagora road follows the Draa Valley, with endless palm groves, earthen villages and the Tizi n’Tinififft pass. Both are beautiful; the Merzouga route has more variety, the Zagora route is shorter.
